National STEM/STEAM Day Celebrates Quality Education for All

National STEM/STEAM Day is a yearly observance that highlights and celebrates STEM and STEAM education for all people worldwide. This article will explain why it is so important to celebrate National STEM/STEAM Day and ways that No Limit International supports STEM and STEAM education year-round.

Why is STEM/STEAM Education Important?

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) provide one way for people to find success in their lives. STEM and STEAM open the door to a number of jobs and professional opportunities, giving students a way to support themselves and their families. They can also help children develop crucial skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and more.

STEM and STEAM education are important because they inspire the next generation of young thinkers and changemakers. These young minds, with the help of proper STEM/STEAM education, are equipped and empowered to apply their knowledge to the real world and break barriers in their local and global communities. Especially in demographics where STEM/STEAM education is less popular, it can have powerful impacts on all ages.

Female STEM/STEAM Education

Cultural and gender norms often prioritize boys’ education over girls’, leading to gender disparities in access to schooling. Supporting female education is important in reducing these disparities and giving girls the opportunity to build better lives for themselves. Female education allows girls increased access to economic independence, better career prospects, and a future where they are empowered to make a difference in the world around them.

According to a report from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), “It is estimated that 15 million girls–mainly those living in poverty–will never set foot in a classroom, compared to 10 million boys.” This is a statistic that everyone has the power to change, and doing so will lead to more opportunities for girls to thrive in the world.

No Limit International Initiatives

No Limit International has taken many steps towards promoting STEM/STEAM education for communities worldwide, especially for young people. These initiatives are part of the non-government organization (NGO)’s mission and goals and have brought positive change to both local and global communities. Through its advocacy and outreach, No Limit International has impacted the lives of thousands—children and adults alike—and continues to inspire others to use their skills for the betterment of the world.

No Limit International has donated books, tablets, and laptops to various primary schools in Cameroon. These educational supplies have helped thousands of children develop their literacy and digital skills, both of which are crucial to youth development.

For years, No Limit International has strived to bridge the STEM education gap through its My-Girls Code program, which offers STEM and coding workshops for girls. My-Girls Code not only gives girls access to coding lessons and equipment, but it also empowers the girls to pursue STEM as they continue to develop.

No Limit International also promotes sustainability in education through “The Wildlife Warriors: Saving Their Habitats,” a children’s book written and illustrated by No Limit International Co-Founder Orlyola Tantchou. The book warns about the dangers of climate change and inspires the youth to take action in their communities in order to create a more sustainable world.
