No Limit International Donates Sports Bras to Three Female Football Clubs in Guinness Super League

On July 28, 2022, No Limit International donated sports bras to AS Patriotes, Eclair de Sa’a, and AS Fortuna, three female football clubs in Cameroon’s Guinness Super League. The underwear was provided by Oiselle and distributed to around 80 female football players in order to encourage girls’ equal participation and engagement in sports.

For many girls without a sports bra or supportive wear, playing a sport can be a painful experience. Sports bras help to reduce pain and discomfort by minimizing breast movement, absorbing sweat, and providing support and comfort in the chest area. Many female athletes worry about breast pain when it comes to sports like football, which, in some cases, can discourage them from playing.

For the non-government organization (NGO), promoting female’s equal participation in sports is crucial in advancing gender equality. “I believe that body confidence is important in sports, and it starts with wearing the proper equipment to practice and games,” stated No Limit International Co-Founder Orlyanka Tantchou during the donation ceremony. “Sports bras are essential for females who want to compete in sports but aren’t accessible to everyone. No Limit International wants to change the inequality in sports participation in Sub-Saharan Africa by removing barriers that prevent females from engaging in sports for some and playing at their highest level for others.”

Community Impact

Upon receiving the materials, Mr. Christian Onana, President of Éclair Football of Sa’a, appreciated the NGO’s gesture and thoughtful act. He said that the equipment would help the female football players “feel free as well as boost their confidence and play on the pitch.”

Ms. Ange Mapi, a player of AS Patriotes, thanked No Limit International for thinking about female sports and encouraging soccer players like her to excel on the field. “This gift is going to help me move around freely on the soccer field and be motivated to win one for No Limit International.”

According to The Post Newspaper and Camer Press Agency, the clubs were very grateful for the donation, saying that the essential equipment would help support their players while on the field.

The non-government organization’s donation is a significant step in its mission to advance gender equality in Sub-Saharan Africa and around the world. Supporting female athletes not  only empowers them to engage in their sport with confidence, but it also motivates them to fight harmful gender stereotypes and social norms that surround sports daily. During the donation ceremony, Orlyanka Tantchou reassured the clubs and players of the NGO’s intent and interest to continue its campaign in the coming months by donating more equipment to middle school, high school, and professional female players in a pursuit of gender equality in the sports arena.
